I am so sorry to hear of Al's passing. I first met Al when he started at the TTC circa 1973. Later, I reported to Al for about 8 years when he was Manager-Management Services. We kept in touch after I retired and had a number of enjoyable lunches. He was an intelligent, decent man with a great sense of humour. My condolences to his family & friends. He will be missed. God rest his soul.

Please accept my deepest condolences. Al was a dedicated employee who at all times looked out for the best interest of the TTC. At the same time, Al was a great leader and I had the privilege of taking a Leadership course that Al delivered for TTC Managers. One thing that stuck out was that Al mentioned that he sent all of the employees under his management a personal letter on their Anniversary with the TTC. Al stared this practice when he only had a small number of employees under his jurisdiction and continued when he had several thousand Bus Operators when he was Head of Bus Transportation. I remember talking to a neighbor who had just joined the TTC at that time and told me how impressed he was and appreciated Al's letter congratulating him for his one year Anniversary. I have followed Al's lead and started doing the same about 15 years ago for all of my staff, so Al's Legacy at the TTC continues to this date. - Vlado Dimovski, Construction Management, TTC

So sad to hear the passing of a wonderful man.
Being Al’s Secretary at the TTC for many years, I have learned a lot with him. He had great leadership, he treated us like his family and protected us all.
He always talked about his family and the love he had for them. My deepest condolences to his wife Barb (it was always a pleasure chatting with you whenever you called for Al) and the family.
May He Rest In Peace.

Al, was the greatest leader! He left such a legacy - even still to this day for the TTC Materials group - holding us to a high standard of excellence but always making us feel safe, defended, and supported. He was definitely the father figure to our TTC family and I will especially treasure memories of his zest for dancing! Much love and prayers to the entire family - Nancy Di Pirro

For the many years I had known Allen, he compassionately and faithfully shared his countless gifts as he supported the Reader Ministry at St. Aloysius Church, Fenelon Falls. For me the quote of remembrance best suited for his life’s journey is: "Your life was love and labour, Your love for your family and faith community was true. You did your best for all of us, we will always remember you!” I send my condolences to Allen’s family and friends. You are in my prayers. God Bless.

I didn’t know Allen personally but he always appeared be a very humble man. I am a summer parishioner also and I always admired his work as reader at Saturday masses.
