Obituary of Bruce Richard Searle

It is with very sad but mixed feelings we share the news of the passing of Bruce Richard Searle (1943-2024). Predeceased by his mother Sybil, father Richard, and older brother Hugh. Bruce leaves behind his wife Sally Croutch, second father to Lawrence, his daughter-in-law Marie and grandchildren Catherine and Lawrence (Wren). Bruce retired from the Toronto Board of Education, teaching Phys. Ed and coaching at Victoria Park Secondary School and for a long time at Earl Haig Collegiate Inst. He was dedicated to his community and in his earlier years was an active member on Pickering Town Council, in addition running for the position of MP in Markham, and a staunch member of the “People or Planes” movement. Bruce was a very active leader in Scouts Canada as well as coaching kids softball. He participated in MORSL softball and coached the ladies in MWSL. From a previous marriage, Bruce leaves behind Anthony (Tony), Erin and Scott.  In his memory, the family welcomes any donations to the York Region Alzheimer's Society (every day, more than 350 people in Canada are diagnosed with a form of dementia)
