John Leeds will always hold a special place in my heart. He hired me to teach at Bayview S.S. and demonstrated every day how much he cared about all the students and staff. He had an uncanny sense of everything going on in the school. I think about him often and will cherish wonderful memories of that special time in my career. I always called him “ Mr. Leeds” and I will remember Mr. Leeds.
I would be remiss if I did not mention his daughter. She lit up his life and he was so proud of her.
Rest in peace Mr. Leeds.
Sincerely,
Flory ( Lebow) Cohen

We must express our admiration for John Leeds , the man..and.. for John Leeds the consummate professional in the varied world of education....our interactions with him included many years at Bayview Secondary School, where he was the much appreciated and respected principal...he was a man of integrity, insight, intelligence, empathy and humor...a combination of traits that made him a principal to be trusted...a principal who was supportive of staff....a principal in which one could confide...we both had many closed-door conversations..both serious and light..with John..and always found him to be receptive, informed and reassuring...in general, the staff of BSS found him to be the epitome of a strong, confident leader...one who we knew would be supportive if any issues arose...all in all...a fine man...one whom we will miss, knowing that he is no longer with us. Our memories of John are fond and thoughts of him bring a smile to our faces...can we all hope to be remembered as such....rest in peace..our friend...John and Cheryl Besley
