Obituary of Raymond James Dickie
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond James Dickie. Born to parents, Esther and Oran Dickie in Sudbury, Ontario on November 12, 1937, Raymond entered the world at a pivotal time in history. He survived childhood illness to play hockey on outdoor ice rinks, don Aiti’s hand knit socks, scarves and hats, draw maps, and develop a love for music, despite a crotchety teacher’s proclamation that he sang like a crow. Raymond made his way to the University of British Columbia where he completed a degree in Forestry. His love for the outdoors knew no bounds: he was in his element paddling a canoe and camping in the wild. He made significant contributions to the preservation of Canada’s natural ecosystems in his career with Conservation Authorities, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. Raymond passed away peacefully on the morning of October 24, 2024, just under two weeks before his 87th birthday. He is sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife Gail; his children, Laura and Randal (Gabriella); his grandchildren Aisha, Kohen, Jessica and Rachael; his siblings Ian, Doreen and Brian; his nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Please consider making a donation to the (TRCF) Toronto and Region Conservation Foundation or Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation in lieu of flowers.
