Forever Loved, Never Forgotten

Linda Lamoureux

July 17, 1954 - February 20, 2024

We lost a great lady, tragically, after a lengthy battle with chronic blood pressure and related issues. Linda will be remembered by her husband Rod, her children Benn (Kate), and Evan (Sarah), her beautiful grand-daughter Chelsea, her mother Sonia, and her brother Mark (Carol). She was also cherished and predeceased by her father, Art. Linda will be deeply missed by her extended family, including her nieces and nephews, and her many dear friends and colleagues. All are at a loss for words.

Linda will be remembered for many accomplishments – a successful Civil Litigation Lawyer, a VP of the Regulatory Services Division for the Ontario WSIB and finally Executive Chair of Tribunals Ontario, where she retired three years ago to travel and/or spend more time at the cottage, her “happy” place.  However, it was always her relationship with people that stood out – whether they were her staff, clients, charitable organizations or family.  She spent many years on the Board of Markham-Stouffville hospital. At work Linda surrounded herself with talented people who lauded her ongoing support and mentoring. She launched many careers, was generally selfless and revelled when her team members did well. To her family, her “boys”, she offered unconditional and sometimes tough but measured love.  And her continuing integrity and determination to do things right, despite political realities, held us all in awe. 

Cremation has occurred. The family will hold a Celebration of Life in Linda’s honour at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street North, Markham, Ontario,  905-294-2030, on Sunday February 25, 2024. Visitation will be from 4 to 5pm, followed by the Celebration Service from 5 to 6pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating money to either the Markham-Stouffville Hospital or the Sunnybrook Hospital.  The Dixon-Garland web site has the links to do so.  These hospitals deserve it. We thank them for their quick and professional attempts to save Linda’s life.
