Obituary of Teresa Valentina Dobrucki

Teresa was unique! Anyone that had the pleasure of meeting her would surely agree. Teresa came to Canada as a displaced person after WWII and was the oldest of 5 children adopted by Casimir and Marie Huzarski of Fort Erie. She attended Loretto Academy and subsequently attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and graduated in 1960 as a Registered Nurse. She worked at hospitals in Hamilton and London, Ont. Teresa married Edward Karl Dobrucki in September 1961. She lovingly cared for him throughout their marriage and put her heart and soul into caring for him when he himself became ill. Teresa and Ed moved to Markham in 1971. They raised their two children, Karen (Steve Keeble) and Christine (Farrell) and became devoted grandparents to Holly, Grace and Claire. Teresa was an icon in her neighbourhood and cared immensely for her neighbours and the environment. She was always available to lend an ear and formed long and deep relationships with people of all ages and walks of life. She never let her world get small and was always on a quest to learn and share her knowledge and wisdom. Teresa loved birds and animals and as sick as she became, she insisted that her squirrels and birds remained well fed. Teresa was dedicated to her community and vowed to keep it clean. You would often see Teresa tending to her and her neighbours gardens and picking up litter in her quest to keep our environment beautiful. Teresa will be fondly remembered by her brother Terry Huzarski (Maureen), her sister Monica Caldwell (Alec), brothers Neil Huzarski (predeceased) and Leo Huzarski and many more friends that will miss her dearly. Thank you to Dr. Andrew Patterson (Evergreen Palliative Care Physician) and all of the support from the Home and Community Care Central LHIN, in particular the incredible nurses that were so loving and compassionate and the PSW’s from S.R.T MedStaff. We will be forever grateful for sharing this journey with us. A celebration of Teresa’s life will be held on Sunday June 26, 2022 drop in between 1pm and 4 pm at her residence located at 14 Captain Rolph Blvd in Markham, Ont. Well wishes only. Please RSVP to cmfarrell@rogers.com. If you are unable to make the celebration of life, you can honor Teresa by cleaning up litter in your neighborhood or connecting with your neighbours with a coffee in hand. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Evergreen Palliative Care in Markham. Please call 416-499- 2185 to make this arrangement if you wish to donate to this amazing non-profit hospice.
