Dolores Provvisionato

Obituary of Dolores Bernadette Provvisionato

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dolores Provvisionato at the age of 75.  Dolores will be profoundly missed by her husband of 51 years Tony. She was the cherished mother of her daughters Patricia and Amy and sons-in-law David and Mark.  Dolores was the proudest and most adored “Grammy” of Ryan, Sara and Alyssa.  Dolores was the loving daughter of Joseph and Rose Bulger of Cobourg, Ontario.  The youngest of 11 children, Dolores was beloved by her siblings and their spouses Joseph and Helen Bulger, John and Betty Bulger, Teresa Gadbois, Tom and Ruthie Bulger, Dolan Bulger, Robert Bulger, Eileen and Ted Gostlin, Frank Bulger, Rosemary and Jack Grosjean, and Ann Johnston.  Dolores was also loved by her in-laws Salvatore and Vincenza Provvisionato and was the dear sister-in-law to Mary and Joe Vaccari, Giovanni and Luisa Paradiso, Carmen and Lina Provvisionato, and Anna and Giuseppe Mestriner.  Dolores treasured all of her 50 wonderful nieces and nephews.

Dolores was born and raised in Cobourg, Ontario.  She studied at the University of Toronto to become a high school teacher of History, English and Religion.  It was there that she met Tony and they married in 1968.  To her daughters’ delight, Dolores was a stay-at-home Mom for several years, before returning to teaching at Brother Andre CHS where she stayed until her retirement.  She was an avid tennis player for many years, with Tony as her doubles partner.  As their #1 fan, Dolores was often found at her grandchildren’s hockey and softball games, passionately cheering them on!  A life-long learner, Dolores mastered new technology with ease. Her many pictures, slideshows, and home-made movies of family events will be treasured forever.

Dolores was love, joy, laughter and kindness personified.  She was truly the heart of her family. Her devotion to her family & friends, her positive spirit and her generosity to others had no limits.  She will be forever missed.

Family and friends will be received at the DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME (166 Main Street Markham North, Markham) on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.  A Funeral mass at St Patrick’s Church (5633 Hwy 7, Markham, ON) will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 10 am with entombment to follow at Holy Cross cemetery in Thornhill.

Having beaten breast cancer twice, Dolores felt a special connection to those battling the disease.  In lieu of flowers, we would ask that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society – Breast Cancer Division at http://www.cancer.ca/en/donate/breast-cancer/?region=on.
